| I would like to put crash bars on my 2012 C50T, both for my protection and to reduce the potential damage from a slow-speed fall.
I heard that Cobra makes a nice set, but when I contacted CobraUSA, they said, "sorry, we don't make a set to fit the C50T."
As they say... 'Back to the drawing board.'
So, what suggestions might the experienced riders here on the Suzuki 800 forum have?

| Hi Steve, Cobra still do them? if you check on Ebay you'll find some, I've always fancied a pair of the Lindby ones with the built in highway bars but they're too expensive over here with shipping and import duty, probably cheaper for you guys in the USA though? They look wide enough to offer good protection with the added highway foot mount. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-C50-Boulevard-Linbar-Engine-Guards-Crash-Bars-/390523945931?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aed0a83cb | |

| Ignore the fact that some manufacturers don't mention the most recent years for the bike. Also some bars will have a slight issue (of touching on full turn) with some light bars repositioning of the indicators if they are hung vertically. I have just had a look at the Cobra site as you mentioned them and they list up until 2009. As there have been no changes in that area since 2009 there will be no year specific issues so pre 2009 stock will fit. The main problem we have when asking for information is that the people we are asking don't have enough specific knowledge and the best answer they can give you in reality is "the computer says no". | |

| Thanks to everyone who contributed to this discussion.
I purchased the Linbar (802-1) by Lindby Custom, through an online reseller who had them on sale.
It took perhaps 15 minutes to install (30 if you include unpacking, gathering my tools, and cleaning up). It was very straight-forward, and I am NOT mechanically inclined. All I needed was a 14mm socket for the installation, and a pair of pliers to pull the industrial-strength staples off the box. I thought I would need a second pair of hands to hold it in place, but a small cardboard box worked well to protect and elevate the bottom bracket.
I will try to remember to post a photo.
Cheers, Steve | |

| Sim,
I have tried the built-in footrests momentarily, just to check the distance. However, since putting them on all of my trips have been short distance hops.
The length was very comfortable for me, even with only a 30" inseam. I can't comment on any distance travel use yet.
I did not purchase the accessory foot rests that attach to the outside edge.

| They look really cool but at first glance does seem very high to rest your feet | |

I measured the distance from the front of the built-in footrest to the footrest on the crash bars. The footrests on the Linbar are approximately 2" further forward, and 8" higher, than the built-in footrest. I suppose the decision over "very high" would be a personal preference decision. YMMV, as they say... Cheers, Steve | |
