Practice Chrome Wrap .......... Suzuki Volusia C800

Wanted to practice the Chrome Wrap before tackling the neck and a couple of other items.

So here is the after and before pics. I did have an extra pair of hands and heating it does help. HOWEVER The Chrome is not as good as your own Chrome. As you can see in the wing mirror. It does not pick up details like normal Chrome But I think it still looks effective.

If you'll wrap the right neck, you're a champion. My efforts ended up in the bin lol.

Yes bit worried about the right neck lol but my wife is the expert at fashioning things lol

Hey give it a go next weekend when off and see what happens I will post updates as and when I do them.

Excellent way to go Dave, you will add lots of bling to the bike where it wasnt before. I love it and may get some myself.

Well, what a load of crap lol

It seems that this wrap stuff is fine if its a gentle curve or flat but get any corner or wave as you do with the ignition neck and your screwed  

My wife and I tried every which way but loose, then we tried the chrome wrapping  

But no wouldn't have it. if anyone out there manages to chrome the neck please please video it so we can see how to keep the creases off.

Good for you for trying, Marcin tried as well with the necks with limited success. Might be worth seeing if there is an instructional video on youtube maybe with some tips

It's weird isnt it.... couple of people trying on here and having limited success. But the pros somehow manage to vinyl wrap all kinds of things. I passed a sign shop t'other day and they had a BMW - with all its complex curves - totally wrapped in a chrome vinyl.  

On that scale I thought it looked tacky actually, but the point is it can be done.

Maybe they use much higher heat than an amateur would dare.... probably have some kinda electric hot air gun which is calibrated just right?

Has anyone tried applying gentle heat and stretching, I'm sure I've seen 'em use a hair drier to go round compound curves etc.

That's how they do it, soapy water on the surface, wrap on top and heat gun to stretch and tease it round curves and corners.

Bloody hell that stuff is very pliable I would probably have given up way before he did if it had gone like that when it was being done by me. Watching these video's an others beforehand is a must if planning to try these things, still probably not good for me to do something like that but for people with a little time and patience I can see how it would be good
