| Hello to all you Suzuki800 members, I'm on my second VL and I'm not sure how I missed this site the first time round? But now I've found it, it looks interesting. I got my first Volusia, 04 plate, from a guy in Twickenham, which is a fair old trek from Sale, added all the usual bits, screen, crash bars, panniers, enjoyed it immensely, toured France and Spain and generally pottered about. Then got distracted, I bought a Suzuki DR Big, for those who don't know them, big single cylinder 800cc trailie, it was like getting off a cruise ship and into a speedboat! I was hooked, what a riot. The Volusia didn't move for 12 months and was in my way, so I posted an ad on fleabay last August and it went to a new home in Melksham, Wiltshire. My baby was gone....... but i still have the DR fruitcake! That was until it developed a rather load knocking sound...grrrr. So a winter rebuild is ongoing, but whilst searching for parts for the DR, I stumbled upon an ad on gumtree for an 04 VL in Bolton, just up the road, not run for 2 years, parked in a lock up, 2350 miles, one owner, £1000!!!!!!! Empty the van, load a ramp, take a spare battery, tools, cash in pocket, there's a deal to be done. Met the owner, an old boy who had a lock up yard with two very nasty looking guard dogs, and sure enough, there was the VL in an open front garage, covered in sh..t, rustier than a 10 year old bean can!(maybe 30 year old, as they don't rust anymore) So I listened to his version of the bikes history, this guy must have had more toys than I've had, (he even tried selling me a Rolls Royce), so I put some fresh fuel in her, changed the battery and it fired up! So now I've a DR in bits and a rusty VL to sort out, and I'm thinking this time I'll do a bobber,........ but that might change. Having looked through some of the previous postings it'll be nice to meet some other owners, and there seems to be a few around me, Bigmal, in Sale! can't get much nearer than that! and why've I not seen you about? Chap in Chadderton, another in Preston. How did I miss this site last time??? Looking forward to warmer weather and meeting some of you guys, All the best for the New Year and ride safely. Peter, Sale, Cheshire. | |

| Thanks for the welcome guys, I did the deal for £700! and as I got £3100 for my last VL, which had 10500 miles on it, I consider it a real bargain. I'm sure this post will come back to haunt me when I finally move it on, there'll be no profit in this one........yeh right | |

| Oh yeh, the Rolls, I did think there was money in it but 'er in doors might have said something about having it on the drive! The neighbours would think I'd had a lottery win and come begging and its a lot of tin to keep clean, it was massive! | |
