Great pic - that really brings back a huge memory for me. !955 - I was 5 years old and was taken to see Aunty Polly board the first Queen Mary bound for Canada, in the very same spot. Mum and Dad and me spent some time aboard before coming ashore just before she sailed. I wanted a poo and my mum told me to hurry brfore the ship sailed. It was an old Victorian bog with a long chain. I heaved to pull the flush and was simultaneously deafened by a massive blast which shook the whole building. I ran out crying to my mum cos I'd pulled a noisy chain only to find the air full of steam as the Queen Mary's air horn again heralded Aunty Polly's departure! By damn those ship horns were loud. Looking at your picture, the toilet must have been right between those Liverbirds - I wonder if it's still there?
