| Rear seat, saddle bags and sissy bar off for the U.S cop bike look. Still in progress as the switch gear, flasher unit, air raid siren and tank badges to purchase and fit over the winter......watch this space. Jim. | |

| She is looking very nice indeed, great bike & great project you have on, with turning her into an American styled police bike. | |

| I love the look......but are you not afraid that every cop you pass will pull you over for having a front facing red light? I'm sure I read somewhere that it's illegal...
Sorry.....just wondered (and hopefully I am wrong)

Sorry.....just wondered (and hopefully I am wrong) Just been researching the UK law regarding the red & blue lights issue & it is illegal, my findings are as such: Blue lights - Under the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989, it states "except for emergency vehicles it is an offence to fit a blue warning beacon or special warning lamp or device resembling such whether working or not" Other lights - It is an offence to show a red light to the front of a vehicle (including a reflector) and a white light to the rear unless reversing. Once again these offences are dealt with by means of a £30 Fixed Penalty Notice. It does not matter if the lights are mounted inside or outside the vehicle, just that the light can be seen from the outside. This would also include neon lights fitted under or on the side of a vehicle and red LED windscreen washer jets. Green lights can only be fitted on Medical Practitioners vehicles. That's the law but a fixed penalty of £30 in my opinion is a risk worth taking & you would need to be stopped by a 1st class police arse-hole for it to be enforced or by a proper traffic cop having a bad day. Either way, plead ignorance, say sorry I thought it would be OK as it was not intended to impersonate a UK cop bike, call him Sir & you will probably still have the £30 in your pocket. Love your bike either way & keep up the excellent modification.

| Most self respecting police motorcyclist will not take kindly to a pretend police bike whether in be a uk or usa lookalike. You may need a large bank balance. | |

| That is probably true, but that's only if you run into one! either way Jimmy you now know the risk and its up to you to choose whether to take it or not. I run the risk every day with exhaust stamped not for road use, but I know the chance of being caught and the consequences if I am. Personally I think you're bike looks great and is developing that US cop bike look quite nicely now. | |

| Fuck em, if you get pulled over do as Marcin and Dave says, plead innocent and talk respectfully and take your chances at least til your wallet gets too light, you might find you get stung but you might find luck is on your side. The law it would seem from Dave's post isn't on your side but pleading innocent combined with talking respectfully will often work miracles with the old bill, even a slight attitude will have the apposite affect | |

| Passed a cop van the other day and not even a look from the boys in blue !!! I know the law on this subject and if I get pulled then its got to be a real tosser of a copper to slap a fine on me tbh, to the untrained eye people are going to say hey look at that.... OLD AMERICAN POLICE BIKE !!!!!! Have you been down the motorway lately???? there are these things called Lorries which go up and down in both directions and they are plastered in lights like a Christmas tree !!!! In 2012 series 9 episode 14 of Wheeler Dealer featured an American P71 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor which was UK registered with the lights on etc etc. A proper copper would see that I am not trying to impersonate a motorcycle cop but rather admire a show American Police Bike. We shall see thanks for all the positive comments and the negative ones......even though we all bend the law at some point now and again.
So to put it in a nut shell......its happening so Fek em !!!!

| You can even buy a uk registered one !!! http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C444880
Wheeler Dealer link
http://www.copcarsdirect.co.uk/wheeler-dealers-attaboy-tv.php
And this is obviously illegal and the owner must have a fat wallet to pay £30 quid every time he pulls off the drive !!! lol

| Interesting links Jimmy and yes I am with you, Fek em. I can see them having an issue if it could be confused with a UK emergency vehicle no matter what the law actually says but I think you would be very unlikely to get a ticket from them with what you are doing with your bike as there is no confusion and your kind of giving them respect in a way | |

| Exactly Crash !!! its not like I am one of the white BMW riders who put a high viz jacket on which says POLITE on the back, there was a guy who was doing that and the police told him to remove it as it looked like he was impersonating a police motorcyclist !!!
Mine is more of a tribute !!! than a blatant pretence !!!
PS I had better cancel my order for this as it also has blue lights !!! lol http://fireengines4sale.co.uk/ViewItem.php?ItemID=295

| Jim Every time I look at your bike I like it a bit more. I really wish that I had done the research that I did earlier when I decided to change all my LED's from blue to a white light. If I had of realised that all they could do was issue a £30 fixed penalty ticket I would never of switched them when I did. For how often they would actually see you and be able to pull you over if they were that way inclined, I would of been more than happy to of paid £30 every now and then. Guess what will be going back on & all over the bike again but even more than before. | |

| It appears my post on this topic may have been taken as a negative, which it wasn't intended to be, instead it is meant as an observation or a possibility in line with other comments which have been made. | |

| Jeff don't worry about it mate, its called pro's and con's, as long as nobody falls out or takes things the wrong way then its just a healthy debate where people input the thoughts and findings. As I said before we all flaunt the law at some point to some degree and its on that basis that we take our chances.

| Hey Jeff your opinions and views are as valid as anyone's, it has always been done in a respectful way & it constructive opinion, so keep it up & don't worry if you think someone may not agree or take un-called for um-bridge. Slagging off a members bike or unnecessary negative feedback is uncalled for but you have not done that. I have posted a lot of stuff on here over the years & the responses have at times been ignored by me & sometimes it has helped me rethink what I am doing or how I have done. ........................................................................ Jim I can't wait to see a video of your bike when it is all done & the lights are on and the siren is going. Just been chatting to a mate on the phone about your bike who was around the other day & I showed it to him, and he is thinking of also doing the same sort of thing as his bike is already sprayed up similar to yours. Your already inspiring people Jim. | |

| Thank you for that Mr Intruder, I have never posted anything on this site with the intention of insulting or offending anybody either personally or about their motorcycle. We all have different tastes and ideas and views how to use and modify their bikes, we can't agree all the time on everything so different views should and do seem to be taken in the way they are meant. | |
