Viking Bags added ................................ to 2013 Suzuki M800

Look what arrived yesterday. wasn't in so just been too the PO to collect.

Amazing quality, nice and rigid, throwover mounts that detach by unscrewing from inside the bag, securing straps that can be clipped off when not required, hard mounts included. They are exactly as measured but a little smaller than I expected, but a good size for the bike. Need time this weekend to hard mount them. I paid £84 for these - yes by mistake but they should be £118 plus £16 delivery.

Good result in the end, nice looking bags.

Absolutely. That is why I bought them as they give you the hardware and the throwover mounts.

These are basically the same except for we don't have to worry about shock cut outs.

Now that's something I'd love...throw over is an absolute menace and I hate the way it looks.

These are now on my wish list & will at some point replace the ones that I currently have. Excellent price, with excellent features. Amazing bags, thanks for sharing.  

Fitted one side today. Will do the 2nd this weekend. Have found 1 small downside but I can sort it out.

Finally fitted. It wasn't easy. Just need to blank the holes in the back of the bags where the throw over's straps went.

They look  well good mate, what issues did you have fitting them?

There are 4 holes in the back fitted with a sort of rivitted grommet with 2 rubber bungs in. Several of the brass grommets have come out leaving holes in the back. The holes did not line up as expected, and they tell you to drill holes to fit the brackets. In also ended up drilling holes more than once as in struggled to line them up. I need to weather proof the additional holes lol.... Somebody at work suggested electrical insulating tape. Suggestions? The backs are hard plastic like abs.

Silicone in the hole then wiped off so its flush then when its dry black electrical tape as suggested should do the trick.

The holes are quiet big - 10mm

Forgot to mention I had to purchase 2 additional fitting bolts to fit to the fender to replace the stock bolts. Front 2x 8 x 120 mm. Rear 2x 8 x 90 mm steel.

They look very good indeed! Tempted to look into some for myself as riding with a bag on my back is not the most comfortable thing to do. I have to admit I'm a little put off by having to frill the holes myself.  Do you need to fix them that way or can you just use the strap thing under the rear seat? or am I being stupid?

Yes the throw over mounts can be used but you must purchase saddlebag mounts to prevent them swinging into the rear wheel. These are typically £50+. I found a couple of grommets and fitted them. In will use electrical tape to close the 1 remaining hole in each side. Rigid mounting is the way to go.

Yeah I have spotted that they're not particularly cheap either.

Might be a silly idea but could you not just attach the mounts that come with it but not bolt them through the bags, then use the over mount strap thing?

The way they are mounted is the best way, looks great without any compromise in style.

Not denying this at all! They look absolutely cracking mounted properly.  I'm just doubting my own ability to do anything whatsoever!

Yeah it could be done like that Dave, Just use 2 of the bars vertically to keep them away from the wheel and the over the fender strap to hold them up height wise, you might need longer fender strut bolts though? to go through the chrome rail and vertical bars, but that's not a problem as most hardware stores will have them in.

Don't get hung up about the holes. I haven't. I have removed all of the brass rivets around the holes and ordered rubber blanking grommets to fill in the holes. Will probably just insert and forget.

Even after watching the video I would still get it wrong. The only way I could do it would be to do one hole at the top first and the put in a temporary bolt just to hold it and then mark around the other top bolting area then find the center of that and keep going.
So yeah it does depend on who is doing it but we aint all called Mr I or Simbo or Alfie, some of us are just normal

Didn't the original picture of the bags have a lock on them at the top? No big deal, as you could use small pad locks if desired.

Yes i noticed that. No deal breaker. 3 mini brass padlocks for £1 purchased today at land of quid.

I like add ons and I have to say that this is one set of bags that I will certainly buy. Watch this space.

I've seen the web site you sent before, they say they are out of stock. The say, 2 to 3 months until restock, but from the replies I saw to someones question, that was long ago already...
