| Well took the bike out yesterday and had to come back home leaking oil from drive,my own fault rushing the job,did not seal the unit properly,(after Sim had told me what to do ) we live and learn.Anyway went to Euro Parts this morning and got some Dirko this is less than half the price of Suzuki Bond and done the job perfectly.Just arrived back after a 70 mile run and no leaks at all.The ride report was favourable, should be able to ease the pressure of the engine when going on to motorways, getting used to taking my time changing gear is awkward for I like to get in top as quick as poss usually in 5th by 38/40mph so the long gears have not been experienced yet, although have been riding a TDM 900 for the last two weeks,so a bit of a change to riding, will get back in the swing of the cruiser again now.All in all a job worth tackling as it must make a big difference to your engine in the long run.My thanks go out to Simbo for getting the shaft milled for me. | |

| For clarity, what do you mean 'did not seal the unit properly'? | |

| When I split the final gear bearing case to renew the large seal,I did not reseal it properly,so after taking all the time putting everything back together,(for it did not leak without the rear wheel on and running in gear)when I arrived at my mates 7miles away my rear tyre was full of oil.A lesson learned, still learning at 63yrs old (kid at heart) always rushing.Hope this helps Dave. | I also put some gasket sealer on the metal plate that goes between the drive and swing arm, Not to keep anything in, I used it to keep water and crap out, Just as a precautionary measure. | |

| I have a question guys, which sealer do you suggest I use when I do my diff? I have seen the mention of Suzuki Bond but not of Dirko so any advice would be grateful. | |

| When I have needed to seal gasket-less surfaces have always used Homebase silicone sealer, as the Suzuki mating surfaces are so well machined you will only need a small bead of sealer. | |

| So the leak was just caus the plate was not sealed. When you see the drive all split like that it make you realise how little there is to go wrong with them Glad everything worked out well for you in the end Alfie | |

| Cheers guys it's nice to be welcomed to an exclusive club, does this make me a VIP,only kiddin just winding CC and Marcin up.Must say that Dave.s (mr intruder) write up prompted me to do the mod,and as I have said Simbo kindly got my shaft milled for me,what an excellant forum to be involved with.Peter, Dirko is more or less the same as other sealants for engines and the like that dont have gaskets, the place I purchased it was from Euro Parts,it's like a grey cement and only costs just over £6.00 Suzuki Bond is £10.36 plus postage, plus waiting time. | |

| This drive modification is fast becoming an epidemic, I have the fever and require the medicine. Very pleased that yet another member I have followed has given a good report. This is one that is going further up my list every day. | |

| It's just a matter of time Ken and you will have done it, our members are becoming very knowledgeable in this mod. It at first seems daunting but when you brake it down, it's simple. No pain but lots to gain. | |
