M800 Cheapo Screen!

Went to the Woodvale rally near Southport last week great day out, and got talking to a bloke with a 1500 Intruder specifically because I saw this screen fitted on it. It fit so well it looked like a genuine Suzuki part but he told me he got it from M&P mail order and it was only 40 quid or so.
So soon as I got home one was placed on order and here it is fitted to my m800 I think it looks the dogs danglies Total cost 45 quid including delivery! bit cheaper than the Suzuki one.


Pretty good fit around the lights etc

I grew up in Allerton Bywater nr Cas! so I know your area well too! I will be having a run out on Monday and Tuesday maybe even Wednesday next week before I go back to work. Ive been on Holiday but with the wife at home Ive not had much chance to get out on the bike otherwise she starts wingeing so Ive had to keep her entertained instead :ballchain:

Its rubber mounted so it does seem to flex about a bit when going over bumps etc but at speed it seems to be pretty stable and it certainly helps keeping the wind blast off most of my upper self, only thing is the screen seems to deflect the wind over and round the helmet and makes for more wind rush sound if you know what I mean so there appears to be more noise now although I dont wear ear plugs or maybe I am just imagining it?

I found my screen to be great, most of the time it's on the bike byt occasionally I have it off. The pressure it relieves from the body when cruising at high speed is a real relief when on a long trip but I must admit to suffering from a little helmet buffeting but I can live with that.

I had a Givi screen on my old Transalp and it lifted the wind off my chest up to the helmet area which gave me a bit of noise but I wear ear plugs if I'm going any distance anyway so it didn't bother me. The benefit though was that I never wiped my visor in the rain for the last two years as the screen deflected the wind onto the visor and hey presto, the rain disappeared. Coming home today, the road spray on my visor was ridiculous and I didn't dare wipe it!

I've had a look on M&P and can't see your screen. Any part number you could give us? I might need it to add to my list for Santa.

I've just taken one of those off and replaced it with the one from Mr I's post.





A little advice for you re your screen, dab a bit of superglue on the thread of the black plastic screen attachments. The wife lost one of hers, and you can't get them separately, it's a whole new screen. Other than that, they're fine.

I have the same screen on my bike, very stable don't move good price and adjustable good all round screen.

Nice screen !!! I found the wearing an open face helmet all the time is a bit noisy that is until i bought a Harley helmet and what a difference !! (although i did spray out the Harley logo) . Using V&H longshot pipes are quit loud but with this helmet on its great !

I can't find Zen's screen on M&P. Anyone got any part numbers, screen size info etc for it?

Can't find any screens at all on Google for 2011 M800 specifically. Anybody else found anything?

Bit strange with Zen, He asked to change his tag from 12watchfor to Zen and thats pretty much the last we have seen of him, just hop all is ok

Well he hasn't been on the list for ages but he was on here earlier today

Got my Airblade Custom screen from M&P at the weekend and now got it fitted.

Yes, it does wobble a bit going over the bumps in Edinburgh's crap roads. I'm trying to figure out if I can add some bracing to stop it moving so much.

Yes, it does give more wind noise than riding naked but no more than the noise I got from the higher screen on my previous Transalp. I use earplugs for a long run anyway.

Yes, it does take loads of wind off the chest and shoulders - I was up to 80mph before I realised and I'm still running the bike in!

Am I glad I bought it? YES:D

Hey Andy , We dont have crap roads in Edinburgh !! LOL They are worse than crap !! I wrote my last bike off a couple of years ago in Edinburgh (1947 BSA M20) The hole in the road was 54 inches long and 44 inches wide and just under 3 inches deep, it seems under Scottish law (according to my lawyer) if its not 3 inches or more its not classed as a pothole !! I got diddley squat in compensation after breaking 3 fingers and loads of bruises (not including a knackered jacket and jeans +helmet) Hey ho such is life !!!

Fortunately I'm on the outskirts of Edinburgh and don't do much riding in the city. If I did, I'd have to get new suspension to make it bearable. The only bike I've had that was good in Edinburgh was the DRZ400SM. The suspension on that was great and soaked up the bumps brilliantly. Unfortunately, it got nicked after only 3 weeks in my possession. That's why you see a Transalp in the list of bikes in my signature - it's too ugly for anyone to steal!

Am on the outskirst too but have to drive into town to work !

I suppose the good thing about those is that they are very easy to put on and take off & adjust

Ive done a mod on the cheapo screen and its solid wind does'nt affect it now

Have you added the 3 support bars we can see in the pic?

Thats a clever way of making it fit for use at speed and looks good too

Yes Dave got a bit of aluminium from b&q and cut it to shape and drilled the £40 pound screen and bolted it to the headlight cowl, took it out today doing 60 mph and it didnt move. ( I love to save money )

It makes it look like a much more expensive screen, what a good idea and affective one at that

Really nice job with that windshield. I wasn't going to buy the OEM windshield for my bike but then the dealer gave all sorts of discount on accessores with a new bike.
