License Plate Surrounds

Hi All
Does anyone know where I can get a chrome license plate surround for a UK legal plate?
I was hoping to avoid the £30-£40 ones from Highway Hawk.

Also what is the gen on "show plates" ie 7"x5"'s?
Do the police really care if that is what's fitted?

Had show plates 7x5 on all my previous bikes and never once got pulled for them, the only time police usually mention them is after they pull you for doing something stupid like 32 in a 30! Will be getting one that size for this bike as soon as I get my private plate sorted.

At 7x5 they take no notice. The plate is slightly smaller than a standard plate but the lettering is easily read when clear lettering is used. Go for it.

If your ever worried about how small you can go with a license plate, find a local friendly petrol garage with NPR on the forecourt, reverse your bike at the pump and go inside and see if your number appears correctly on the screen inside. My local BP is really good for this, if it shows clear for them then its definitely going to show for the police car following you ergo no problem for the police, unless the tit is having a bad day!!
