| I am wondering if anyone knows where I can source new white wall tyres for my new 2015 VL800 bike in the UK. I have read in other forums that Metzeler do a ME800 white wall tyre, but they are liable to crack.
I think its only Bridgestone & Dunlop that do white wall tyres in the UK but don't know.
I don`t even know how much they are to non white wall tyres and if they are good quality!
Any help would be gratefully accetpted

| Bought my Metz Whitewalls earlier this year from Oponeo, (ignore the picture, they are whitewalls) no sign of cracking & I'd never heard that before. Where did you hear of that? | |

Hi I know its from America but its where I read it from. Could you let me know approx how much you paid for yours and would you recommend them. How easy is it to keep them clean, thanks. http://www.motorcycleforums.net/forum/boulevard/33451-white-wall-tires.html

| Hi lepidge. Your local bike tyre supplier will order them in and fit them for you. Mine were ordered one day and were there the next for fitting. Mine are still as good today as the day I bought them. I can't remember how much I paid through the dealer but I know I would not pay a great deal for them to supply and fit them, I am to tight. I have only cleaned them with Muc-off or Silkolene wash off or similar and a medium intensity bristled brush. If they got bad then something like a household Kitchen/bathroom cleaner like Jiff/Ciff would do them easily. | |

| I paid £212 for a pair, delivered to the fitter who charged me £20 for fitting (mine are on an '01 VL, don't know what size wheels you have on yours). I clean mine with a basic spray cleaner - if they are a bit more marked (grease etc.) I use the pound shops version of Cif. They seem to stay clean for quite a while Re cracks in the sidewalls - had a bit of a Google - seems to affect Brazilian made tyres in the States. Mine seem fine & I think Mr I's been running them longer than me. | |

| just bought a pair of 880 WW from oponeo see the tyre forum links for these tyres - waiting to have fitted whilst I clean and tart up under the mud guards - look good to me and bought because of the tyre thread forum
my comment from the Metzler thread "My bike only had 6k on the clock and the tyres had bags of tread but the side walls were cracking + the white walls were a poorish paint job - probably good when originally done but looking tired. Followed this thread and ordered 170/80 -15 77H ME880 WW and a 130/90 -16 ME880 67H WW from Oponeo £209 inc. waiting on delivery -"

| Tyres now fitted - a quick note for newbies - to biking yet alone 800s (like me) and idiots (like me) check to see if you need inner tubes. I didn't and I wish I had. | |

| With you on that one Barney - as my mechanic said to me "Didn't the holes in the rim where the spokes fit give it away, you plonker" - I'd spent the last 27 years riding a bike with cast wheels. | |

| At least my mech didn't call me a plonker - but I must be because I didn't even think about the spokes till you just said. Doh | |

| My guy is not a big cruiser fan - he was gutted when I sold the Katana - even now he call the Vl "The Anal". He's grown to love it though !! | |

| When I bought my vl800 the tyres were not in the best nick. The rear tyre was more like a car tyre shape. Fitted the ME880s.Just been out for a half hour ride and it was like riding a different bike. Smooth cornering and rolling. Really really pleased. | |

| They seem to have a bit of a strange profile - there's no definite "edge" from where the radius drops to the sidewall - I like the handling of them. How did you get on cleaning the blue off ? | |

| No problem at all -washing up liquid and hot water. And a green plastic scrubber. I note that everything marks the white. So constant cleaning will be the order of the day | |
