| Mally, Don't forget whatever you do to obtain the 95 to 04 dished front disc as the standard VL/VZ one won't do the job & you'll have to get the wheel hub re-drilled to match it! All the spacers etc will fit back in without any problem with the exception of the front wheel spacer which will need you to slightly spread the legs to get it in as it's a bit concealed ok. PM me if I can help with any suggestions OK!

It doesn't do anything really on the Monoshock versions (M/VL) of the 800, it's put in there to fill the hole in that the Twin Shock versions (VS/VX) of the 800 use for shock mount on the left side. | |

| Paul you need the cast wheels & all the standard spacers ok as they will fit no problem. The problem I encountered as you will read if you scroll up is that you need the 1998 to 2004 front VZ800 disc as it is a deep dish one as against the later flat disc, this I bought from a dealer in Leicester for about £100- or so & it does need the hub re-drilling & tapping to match the disc bolt holes. You could of course use the old disc with spacers & longer bolts BUT it's your neck on the line & I took no risk by doing it directly to the hub as the old one was. You may get one bolt hole to line up but I cannot remember if I did or not? I used a local specialist engineering shop to do it as they had the ability to do it right! NOTE:- The other thing you may need to do is to make some spacers up for the caliper bolts & 2 longer bolts to match as I had to space mine out by aprox' 6 to 9mm to get the caliper to line up with the disc obviously. I also got my local blacksmith to weld up a shield for the caliper to hide the odd bits & the caliper. I used alloy tube first then made stainless spacers to the correct depth.

| No probs Paul, it it gets you started then its helped. Oh by the way, I had a second front wheel spacer made in alloy, that's why it needed to be shortened back to standard, but just use the one already on your bike ok. | |

| I came across your write up on the front wheel change of the vl800, I am looking at putting on the vz800 front wheel and can only find a early one with the speedo on the left side of the bike (1997 - 2004 model). Would this still work? also would the speedo sensor work as well as its currently on the right? And I take it I then put the spacer from the left side onto the right?
Thanks. | |
