carburettor cables??

hi newby here,can someone please put me out of my misery!! i have removed the carbs on my 97 marauder 800 and can for the hell of me get the back one cabled up correctly!! when itry the throttle the cables seem to go wrong way??am i connecting them wrong way round? oh, i changed the bars too could i have connected them wrong way round maybe??
