how to remove a steering lock from a suzuki intruder vs800

I need to replace the steering lock on a 2001 vs 800, I have a new lock with keys. Has anyone done this and can you explain how?
Please don't answer why I want to do this, or I should be using a rotor lock, etc etc. I am going to replace it, I just need help in removing and installing. Thanks

I'll get back to you with answer if  I can think I had problems with the steering lock on a vs 750 I had just got to remember what I did

mate I can remember some of what it looks like you might be able to drill it out don't drill strait in like you where putting key in (where the key goes) 
I can explain how to drill it out if it has lil screw on barrel........ can you please post a picture of your new lock so I can see it take it from a few different angles it will be a cylindrical shape with a spring....... 

 the screw is the important thing that's what you aim for when drilling don't know if your barrel will have it or if it was more on older bikes     put some pics up please hopefully I can help

It does have a small screw or pin in it. I have seen video's of people drilling into the side of the lock between 2 and 3 o'clock to break this pin. Once the pin is broken does the lock pull out? and if so when the new lock is slide back in what holds it in?

yes that's where to drill,  2 or 3 o'clock? depends how it sits in there.
find where you need to drill (where pin is) it should pull out you might need to hit it a few times to break it if you didn't get through all of the pin. Good questions post's always seem to get better response with some pics take a few of old steering lock in bike....... sometimes info can help is it that you have lost the key?? people feel more inclined to chip in and help someone in trouble. I can ask a few people I know to find out more, answer your questions and more but you will have to give me a couple of days mate in the meantime I know there are lots of people on this site that will know more than me hopefully they will see your post and try to help that's what we are all here for

Ok no rush, yes never got the key with it. New key slides in but of course does not turn. Plus I don't know if the old one ever worked or was busted. I got a new one for $25.00 so I figure its worth using it as long as it's not a complete nightmare to change.

ok where is "new key" from? did it come with bike? it's quite common for new keys to not work in old locks because lock and the original key have both worn oh hold on you mean new key from your new lock? no that wont work but never mind so its not locked you can ride bike handle bars turn? you just want to be able to turn it? lock it.  I will tell you that even with the new lock they are a bit of a pain in the arse to use I'm sure mine was turn bars to the left (all the way) then start trying to turn key and wiggle bars till it was in the right place and locked and same to unlock it lol think mine was a 1991 plate has yours got the 21inch front wheel? or was that just on the 750cc

Has anyone actually bought this set as I believe they are based inGermany and my concern is the language barrier if/when trying to order from them?
