Vl800 regulator

Hi there I own a 2010 VL800 intruder, recently I have had problems with charging possibly overcharging and cooking the battery. Unfortunately after replacing the battery I went for a test drive and the engine stopped and all dash lights went out.
I checked the main 30 amp fuse which had blown.
I turned the ignition off, replaced the fuse and it blew immediately. My local bike garage suggested that it could be the regulator, anybody know where it's located...
