Greg here in the good ol' USA - well, not so good lately...
I had a used 1987 VS1400GL between '96 and '00 before I was able to get a new Kawi Drifter VN1500. While I've always enjoyed all the bikes I've owned, the Drifter was my favorite, and I put 63K on it before getting an '09 Wee Strom (DL650) in 2013.
The majority of bikes I've owned have been V twins. All my bikes now are V twins:
I also had an '82 Honda VT500 Ascot and a '75 CB500T (parallel twin), an '81 Kawasaki KZ550 (my first new bike) and started with a '73 Honda CL350.
With owning a number of vintage/antique bikes, I've been doing more wrenching lately, after beginning with a 'more time riding/minimal wrenching' philosophy. I joined the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA) which has been and continues to be a great learning opportunity in keeping the older bikes running and on the road.
I'm hoping to learn more about the S50/VS800 as the bike I just purchased has just around 9K on the clock, which I believe is time for a valve clearance inspection and potential adjustment.
I'll be searching the forum shortly for tips as well as looking to YouTube and other opportunities before starting. If anyone has any advice, please respond - I do appreciate it!
Greg

Hello Greg, welcome. Ahhh... the valve issue. Almost as good as the engine oil conversations. Haha... Do a search here for valve clearances.
