vz800 headlight

A quick question I am looking at upgrading the poor vz800 2005 head light but unsure if anyone has gone down the Hid bulb route or  gone for a replacement full led lens unit also what size is the replacement lens.. just looking at getting more light on the road during the late nights 

any advice is welcome

I have a Wisamic 5 3/4 inch unit fitted into a mini Bates style shell, I can now see the future and the future id bright. Hardly ever use main beam now. Not sure what size the stock headlight is. if it's 7" you are in luck as they also do a 7" version and it's more or less plug and play. All I had to do with the Bates shell was push the reflector location tabs back about 2mm. I have had no problems at mot time as the unit has a nice cut off pattern like the original halogen lamp and I don't get flashed by oncoming vehicles.

Thx Harry that wisamec light is looking like a fave for me , I like the idea it will pass an MOT with it , although I do not mind if I have to swap out for a day every year ...

Do your research on HID units. I believe that they are illegal as a fitted unit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/aftermarket-hid-headlamps/aftermarket-hid-headlamps.
Also, I had one fitted to my Katana - see the picture of my tank in my avatar. That's the result of a HID failure

I replaced mine in my vs800 and I love this bulb.  It's very bright, I've had it about 4 years and it still works great.  

I just checked and it looks like it's no longer available but I see there are others with the same specs. Just search for these specs in your area.
