| Hi I wondered if anyone knew the widest tyre I can get on my standard mag/alloy front wheel ? Any help much appreciated, thanks in advance. | |

| I could be wrong and I will check this info but I believe a 150 is as large as the front mudguard will except. I understand wide rear tyres but I am unsure as to any advantage of a wider front tyre. Is it purely for a cosmetic change? | |

| Hi Dave thanks for the reply, yes just cosmetics and I think I'm going to ditch the mudguard too. I have a pic of the type of thing I'm after but have no idea how to upload it here? Sorry for my ignorance. | |

| The narrowest point is at the forks and the mud guard fits snugly to it, so I would say that removing that wouldn't make any noticable difference to any size increase from the 150 tyre mentioned by Mr I | |

| Can you not measure the distance between fork stanchions to give the maximum tyre size ? your standard 150 is 150mm wide so going larger would depend on if they make one and if it will fit the gap between the forks. | |

| I am not sure it is as simple as that simbo but I could be wrong. I have asked for tyres at a local fitters before and although on the face of it you would think they would fit, the fitter has refused to fit them because the width at the rim was not right for that width of tyre in that format. I am not sure how to work it out but all three measurments are supposed to coincide within certain parameters I think? I don't really understand how it works really but I am sure it is not as simple as it first seems | |

| Yeah Crash I agree with you about tyre fitters, But a lot of them won't even mend a puncture unless it's in the perfect spot lol Bone went up from 130 to 150 on his bobber so I personally can't see a problem if the tyre will fit between the forks and they make one, I'm no tyre specialist though but if we don't try we'll never know | |

| The fatter the tyre the better it looks, especially when no guard is being used but I wouldn't want to go bigger than 150 on the front myself. The naked front wheel always looks really good on these types of bikes when a bit of modding has or is being done but I would personally never go without a front guard again. When I did it years ago it was fekin unbelievable the amount of shite I ended up with, not only all over my bike but also over me from top to toe and it ain't nice. | |

| I would imagine the structure of the tyre has something to do with it as well. There will be more or less lateral movement depending on how much give there is in the sidewall which could lead to interference issues with the forks/mudguard. Therefore the manufacturer and tyre series will affect how successful the mod is as well | |

| I reckon if they can fit car tyres to bikes then fuck it, put what you like on and it will be better than a car tyre | |

| Looks mean a lot to me on this type of bike but I know that if they say that it is wrong I will not personally fit it. Might be OK to put the wrong tyres on if you plod around but I ride my bike like I just stole it, so I will stay with what is recommended because I want to keep the rubber on the tarmac. | |
