| [img] [/img] Decided to go for the Avon Cobra front tyre, have done nearly two hundred miles on it now and am very happy with it,the one on the left is the old Avon Venom.Only time will tell. | |

| My thoughts as well Sim when I went to pick it up thought "is this my wheel" must say Avon recommend them as a replacement for the Venom, but is that sales talk.At the moment feels great, and I have loads more confidence with the extra tread. | |

| I think that has got to be sales patter because the Venom are still listed on their site. If they were recommending them as a replacement that would surly only be if they had been discontinued? | |

| Looking on the Avon site, I think the Cobra is the more sporty version of cruiser tyre? they still do both Cobra and Venom which is a good thing as it gives us more choice, It'll be good to see what you think of it over time, as then it will give a more accurate idea as to grip levels and wear against the Venom.
ps the Venom seems to have a different tread pattern now? more sporty looking.

| So if the Venom is aimed at cruisers and the Cobra is aimed at sportier bikes, would that mean a softer but faster wearing compound on the Cobra but more grippy? | |

| Possibly Crash, I think I read somewhere the Cobra is a dual compound tyre though, that would mean it had a hard centre line (for durability) and softer edges for more grip. | |

| Aren't all bike tyres at least a dual compound, some I think are tipple compound now. Sounds like a good move to go for a sportier like Alfie has than a standard cruiser tyre, much better to possibly loose a bit of wear if you can gain a softer and stickier tyre in the process | |

| Just had a look on the Avon site and found this quite interesting, when you put in the bike it come up with this recommendation. Both cobra and venom to be fitted. Cobra for the front and Venom for the rear
Front Tyre Cobra Pressure front: 2.3 bar (33psi) Front size: MT90B16 74H
Rear Tyre Venom Pressure rear: 2.5 bar (36psi) Rear size: 170/80B15 83H

| Dunno Crash? I was under the impression they made single compound tyre's and dual compound, the latter only being on sale over the last few years and mainly for sports bikes, The idea being that they're like a standard tyre for upright riding (majority of the wear) and softer on the sides when it comes to bends, The recommendation by Avon might be because your more likely to lose the front end on a cruiser? rather than spin up the back wheel. | |

| Looks like when they recomended the Cobra for the front it wasn't just sales patter, it was the correct information given. Thats nice to know that the people you are going to are actually properly informed | |

CC ...... That's exactly what the local guy fitted to mine, even though I asked him for a set of Cobras, front and rear, so I guess that's ok then. *Rides free, without that nagging doubt again*

| Got a reply from Avon ...............
Hi Glyn,
Our recommended fitment for a Suzuki C800 2005> is a MT90B16 Cobra front and 170/80B15 Venom rear.
Both of these tyres are Bias belted as denoted by the inclusion of a letter 'B' within the notation and these are fine to be fitted together.
Hope this helps.
