| So my battery died last night and I had to jump start it from the car. Fully Charged it last night. Won't turn over today again. There is a strange sulphur smell coming from the battery area now as well. Ideas? | |

| It's not cracked and leaking acid or anything like that is it? | |

| Can't see any puddles under the bike no. The smell is only after you try and turn it over | |

| Sounds like a dead cell that's heating up when load is applied | |

| Turns it was a faulty battery. New one installed and no problems! Easy and cheap fix thankfully | |

| Now you've got a new battery, do you have an optimiser? If not, try the Oxford Solar Cell Optimiser. I got one, and was a bit unsure, but it keeps my battery in tip top condition, which is important now the weather is changing for the worst. It charges from early dawn, until just before dark. Well worth the £30. | |

| How big is that, as it sounds like something good for use on a road trip? | |

| In old money it's about 11" x 7" x 1/2" thick. the lead is about 6' which is terminated with a plug / socket, and a choice of battery connection i.e. direct to battery which is fused. I mount mine with a bungy cord over my sissy bar, and plug it in, but it comes with some suckers so you can put it in the window etc. Takes 10 seconds to connect, trickle charges from dawn to dusk. Well worth it if you don't have a mains socket handy!! | |
