| As some of you will know from an earlier post, I was bought an Angel eye for my Intruder by my youngest daughter Angel. I had earlier taken the headlight apart so that I just had the glass & lens from the actual headlight that I had taken out of the headlight bucket. I tried to get the glass off but initially failed and just put the headlight back together on my bike, while I considered how to tackle it. I have searched our particular headlights but can find no write-up anywhere on anyone taking this apart & more importantly how they have done it. I have looked into other types and got no more than an idea to how different people have fitted angel eyes into completely different & non Suzuki headlights. So as there is no way in the world that this angel eye will not be fitted, even if I have to buy an alternative headlight, which to me is like giving in, so that will probably not happen. I will try anything anyone has as an idea at some point. I have now put the headlight on top of the heating boiler to warm and see if that can break the glue down a little for me to prize the headlight lens off. If that doesn't work I will just increase the heat applied bit by bit & even consider using the oven to help. Obviously to much heat will melt the headlights plastic bucket but if that happens, then so be it because no gain ever happens without the risk of a little pain. I have also considered using pure alcohol poured into the headlight lens to see if that will break the glue down a little, before prizing the lens off, fitting the angel eye and re-glueing it in place. Any ideas or things you may have tried will be gratefully received, as this isn't going to beat me. My daughter Angels gift of an l-e-d Angel eye will be fitted in way or another & that is a fact. Anyway, I like a challenge. | |

| Area focused heat would not work, as when the metal ring that goes around the edge is removed, it is not a matter of being able to cut through anything. It is a matter of prying the plastic bucket & glass away from each other only & you would need no area stuck firm while trying to pry the opposite area. To be honest, I think if heat worked in that area as I have seen tried but on completely different types of headlight it would need to be rather hot due to taking into consideration the constantly on bulb when considered with summer heat possibilities & the combination of the two with this particular design. | |
