| After a very long wait my new to me bike arrived last week. Its everything I imagined it would be and Im looking forward to clocking up lots of miles and getting to a few events this year. " /> Its very rare that I ride with a passenger so I was thinking about removing the rear seat but then I realised this would make the rear fender look very long and empty. I thought about going down the bobber route but at the same time I didn't want to take the bike too far from being original and have the headache of mounting the numberplate and sourcing lights. Then I saw a topic on here ( I believe it was by Kevin ), who had fitted a rear tail cover to where the rear seat should be. As soon as I saw the pictures I knew this was the answer to my dilemma and the road I wanted to go down. The only issue here was that Kevin's bike is newer than mine with the later styled rear end opposed to my fish tale rear fender which I believe changed over on the 2010 model. To make this work I would have to source a complete rear end for my bike from a newer model. I managed to find a company on e-bay that were breaking a 2013 bike that had front and side damage, all the parts I needed were there so I went ahead and ordered them. They actually arrived a few days before the bike did lol. Here is my bike as standard " /> And this is the desired end result " /> I had to buy: The rear under seat sub-frame, Plastic fender cover, Rear Light, Chrome supports for either side, Number plate / indicator mountings, Drivers seat, Pillion seat Cowl. I have had a trial fit and it went together surprisingly easy. " /> " /> " /> Now I know that it all fits and it will work I will be getting the parts painted before final installation. Does anyone happen to know the paint code for my bike ( The tank colour - not the new rear ) From what have I read on the paint, Suzuki only used my colour paint on the M800 up to 2010 so I wouldn't have been able to find a new rear end in the right colour, the only option was to buy the wrong colour and get it painted. I am planning on re fitting the side bags as they will be very useful for trips away but I might have to lose the sissy bar as it might look out of place with no rear seat. i will keep this updated as things go along | |

| Looking good! I prefer the look of the Fishtail model as a dual seater but prefer the later model rear as a single seater, I prefer the chrome headlight too ps. I think that's the same colour as bigmals bike, Do you know the paint code Mal? it's in the service manual. | |

| I have had a bit of spare time on my hands this weekend so I took it as an opportunity to get the rear end swapped over. I am really happy with the finished product, Thats just the look I wanted. " /> " /> " /> " /> The only thing that needs finishing off is the paintwork. I visited 2 local auto paint suppliers on Saturday and one told me that they dont use the right brand of paint to mix the colour, the other told me that they use copy colours (as Suzuki don't release their top secret paint formulas??) so it would not be a perfect match. I matched a close colour from a third shop and decided to give it a go as it was holding up my progress. If it had been a good colour match the paint would just need cutting back in a few days time. Im not happy with the colour match though so now I have sourced a supplier from e-bay who stocks the exact colour for 14.99 per tin which I think is quite fair. Hopefully I will be able to get the new paint done this week. When thats out of the way I will start hunting for the white wall tyres as I have noticed upon cleaning the bike today that the front tyre has a few naughty looking cracks in the wall : ( Its all good fun and it keeps me out of mischief lol | |

| Thanks Crash Im really happy with the new look, The single seat means I can't be nattered into giving people lifts. lol I read a thread earlier that mentioned "Google-bots" taking images from this site and posting them else where so i thought i would start and blank the plate out, that is the best my computer skills could manage I'm afraid ha ha | |

| Thanks guys. It was a nice straight forward job. Un-bolt the old parts, Bolt-on the new. No modification or bodgery anywhere along the line. I used my old indicators but I imagine if the kit came with the indicators already on and in the right colour it could be swapped over in just over 1 hour. Thanks for the positive comments | |
