| Just wondered what tyres everyone is running on, guess the guys with newer bikes will still be on OE tyres. I replaced a front this year and fitted an Avon Venom X , superb tyre ! It's given me much more confidence in the front end than the original IRC tyre ... that was horrendous, especially in damp conditions and not great grip in the dry. Having said that they lasted well, rear 11000 miles, front nearly 18000.
My rear is a Bridgestome Exedra, but when it comes time to replace it I'll definitely put another Venom X on, might even go whitewall and change the front too.

| My stock rear had to be replaced 4000 ish - probably due to running underinflated. Replaced with a Pirelli Route. It has a very pronounced tread pattern and I have inflated to 38. The bike handles so much better. My front IRC is still going strong at 7000 - don't know what I'll replace that with - probably go for a good deal as I'm not riding a crotch rocket. | |

| I just put a Venom on my rear wheel - I like the way it handles; very grippy and I find I'm leaning nice and easily. They are quite sporty tyres which suits my style of riding, even on a cruiser | |

Bloody Hell Ray, don't remind them or someone will get it going again. If I remember rightly, there was 3 of them running all at the same time

Interesting point - probably sensible but in reality I wonder how many of us just replace one at a time?

| I will only ever replace a tyre when it is needed. If there are a few k's left in a tyre of mine then I will squeeze every last bugger out of it as a rule. The only exception for me will be when I go over to white walls, then it will be a set change. | |

| I phoned Carole Nash this week to ask them if it is ok to mix tyres (makes/speed rating) as far as insurance is concerned. The guy had to ask his supervisor - the reply came:
"You can replace any tyre, front or back, with any other, for insurance cover as long as it is road legal"
I don't know whether all insurers would say the same. I understand that Bennetts regard a different tyre as a mod but there are insurers and then there is Bennetts!

| My front tyre ain't too bad, but ain't too good, originals are never great tyres are they? My idea was to get a set, then keep changing the rear for same. Venom x Michelin commander ......... ? Not sure which yet. Metzeler me 880
The local guy is quite good, will ask his prices.

| I have been reading about the michelen commander 2 tyres and was thinking about getting rid of the whitewalls and using them myself as they promise very long wear and good in the wet as well | |

| Just had a Continental Milemaster CM2 170/80-15" fitted by my local bike dealership (Wylie & Holland, Wellington, Shropshire) and well pleased with the service and the price .... £110 inc VAT fitted (took wheel in). Cannot get the tyre on the internet for less than £108.... and then you'd have to get it fitted somewhere (tubeless).
They even gave me the old tyre back as there seems to be 2-3K left on it (but I'm off to France in a month and want to minimise the risk of a pucture etc)....... so that might get refitted once this one is worn.
