Subject: Leaking brake caliper Sun Jun 07, 2020 11:21 pm
I have a '97 Intruder GLV800. I didn't ride it for a couple years and recently got it cleaned up and running great again! I noticed that I had a little puddle of brake fluid on the ground under the front caliper but thought the leak may go away after riding it a few times. Well, it's slowed down but still leaking and the disc is oily as well.
Should I opt for a new caliper and pads or go ahead and rebuild the caliper and clean, or replace, the pads with brake cleaner?
Suggestions/experiences with this would be appreciated!

First off, I wouldn't ride it until this is sorted. Brake fluid on your disc is bad news, and it won't do your tyre any good for sure. Sounds to me like new seals are needed. New seals, a clean up and new fluid. $30..? Get a shop to do it, if you aren't confident, I wouldn't take chances where brakes are concerned.
yes off the road until sorted as badger said, if confident to give it a go keep a video on your phone as you take it apart help no end when it comes to reassembly not a lot in there to be honest but it is brakes so has to be done correctly.below is a vid give you an idea whats it like ive always liked delboys video
