| Seeing as my bike still has the original tyres on, I think it's time they were changed despite there still being plenty if tread. I've seen that these seem popular. Whose got these and any comments? I've also seen that some go upto a 200 instead of 170. Lastly, I've had a search for prices but can anyone recommend the cheapest place to buy them from. Cheers. | |

Dave, did you go up to 200 on the rear like some seem to do?

| I've got the M880's and they seem pretty good, I've not done many miles on them, but they get good reviews, I got them from here. http://www.oponeo.co.uk/?gclid=CM-ou7Hd2LwCFQPmwgodUDsA3A | |

| I've got the m880 tyres on mine too, I like the looks of the whitewalls but they don't give me much confidence when cornering in the wet. I've had the bike for almost two months and done almost a 1000 miles all in the rain and its slipped and slid quite a lot. They may be better in the dry, have to wait and see? | |

| Do they not do them without white walls? I don't want those. | |

| Going in this week to order another Metzler ME 880 for the front of my bike & finally remove the painted white wall that I have there. To be fair the painted one looks good but it will be nice to have the pair of Metzlers completed. Love white walls. | |

| Morning Guys, was looking to get WW on mine but as you know make and size is limited, I have found that Avon Cobras do the front ok but the closest rear would be 180/70 r16 does anyone know if this will fit and ride ok? and any thoughts on the tyres themselves. thanks | |

| I can only speak for the Metzler ME 880s, I will be fitting a front asap for the simple reason that I am very happy with the rear. | |

thanks Hi Justin, The Vl rear wheel is only 15 inch not 16? so 'no' that tyre won't fit.

| I've used Avon Venoms on other bikes & they have been great .... not sure on sizes available - but would be surprised if they don't do one for the VL as they are cruiser based tyres.
Whilst it should be obvious to most people - Don't mix Radials and bias ply tyres on the same bike !

| Thanks for all the info, but REALLY want WW as they will suit the bike, venom are good but no ww so I will have to go with the metz. | |

| ok im sold. will get more involved and upload pics etc soon, at the mo in mourning, had the front brakes changed to ebc and Hel by a local garage and the fuc*ing morons spilled brake fluid on my front fender the 2 side panels and even on the screen over the speedo leaving burnt matt marks!!!! luckily the boss was really apologetic and promised it will get sorted...watch this space, either it gets sorted, he gets smacked! or the lawyers earn lots of money....possibly a combination of all 3 lol | |

| That's piss poor Jason ..... anyone can make a mistake, but if you are quick to clear up the spillage of brake fluid it may have minimised the damage - so it was doubly careless .... once for spilling it, and again for being slow to take remedial action. Care will be needed in prepping the contaminated areas otherwise paint problems could recur. If it was a main Suzuki dealers you went to, then I would think about elevating your complaint to Suzuki .... though these days there are several 'independent' Suzuki dealers - so that might not have the impact it should. Hope you get sorted it sorted both soon & to your satisfaction ! Yam | |

| How do you guys find these tyres after having them for a while now? How are they in the wet? I'm considering these or the Michelin Commander II. | |

| Lovely looking wide white wall and a good tyre but not the stickiest I've had. Still a good tyre though and I would buy again. | |

| If I didn't want White Walls I'd have gone for the Avon venom's but I've had no problems with the Metzeler's either. | |

| I've got Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres on my VX and have been pleased with them, but not sure if they will do tyres in the sizes you might need - but worth a look. They are designed as all-rounder tyres for real road riding & give a good compromise on grip, wet weather handling/braking & longevity. I've recently fitted a Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT rear tyre to the 'XR' Sportster & so far so good (The 'GT' variant is for 'heavier' bikes & is good for cruisers - the XR is around 250kg dry) - they seem good tyres .... but the RP3 & RP4 seem to have a habit of picking up gravel & throwing it - so be careful if you are following a bike shod with them that has a large amount of rear tyre on show from the rear view !
Other main brands of modern 'all-rounder' would include the Bridgestone T30 or the Metzeler Z8 (List is not all inclusive - there will be others - Such as AVONs etc.) As mentioned above I've used AVON Venom & Viper tyres on my cruiser & they've been good reliable tyres.

| I currently have the Metzler 880 in 200 section and standard size on the front . I can safely say if you ride in the wet and have a death wish ..buy them ...they are absolute crap in the wet .the original IRC might actually be better....in the dry they are average ... The front is far better than the rear ... They aren't cheap either ... Michelin commanders , Avon venom or bridge stone if you like to give it some now and again ... | |

Interesting review Ross, do you think some of the problems could have come from going to a larger section rear tyre and upsetting the geometry of the bike? have you tried the same tyre size combo in different tyre makes? just wondering as you say the rear is worse than the front.

| The bike handles OK ..in the dry , in the wet it slips n slides under very little throttle ..have tried altering the spring tension and the ride height but no difference in grip ...the fatter rear does lean/ turn slightly slower but not enough to stop the fun ... I'm not impressed with the wear rate on the rear either for such a hard ungrippy tyre ... | |

| My bike only had 6k on the clock and the tyres had bags of tread but the side walls were cracking + the white walls were a poorish paint job - probably good when originally done but looking tired. Followed this thread and ordered 170/80 -15 77H ME880 WW and a 130/90 -16 ME880 67H WW from Oponeo £209 inc. waiting on delivery - | |

| I put the Metzler WWW 888's on in August. They stopped making the 880's 3 years ago here in the states (or as I was told) and have sold off their inventory. I have never had a problem with the 880's in the rain but you guys are certainly experts on rain. They did bump the price up on the 888's. | |
